July was warmer than average (18.9°C versus an average of 16.5), drier than average (24.40 mm versus an average total of 47.33) and calmer than average (a wind run of 1700 miles versus an average of 2085).

July 2018 was a very warm month with temperatures topping 20°C on all but the 29th, when the maximum only reached 19.5°C, ending a run of 35 consecutive days of above 20°C maximum temperatures, easily a record for here. The maximum temperature in the month was 31.0°C recorded at 17:35 on the 26th. This was only the fourth time that a temperature in excess of 30°C has been recorded here and was the second highest temperature ever here, beaten only by the 32.7°C recorded on July 1st 2015. The minimum temperature in the month was 9.6°C recorded at 03:00 on the 4th, the highest minimum temperature ever here.. The average temperature in the month was 18.9°C, well above the July average of 16.5°C, and another all-time record. The average daily maximum temperature was 25.1°C, an all-time record, with the average daily minimum temperature being 13.0°C. The warmest day was the 26th with an average of 23.2°C, with the coldest day being the 29th with an average temperature of 15.8°C. There were no frost days in the month.

The highest dew point was 19.5°C at 17:01 on the 26th, equalling the highest of 2018 so far. The minimum dew point was 6.5°C at 15:01 on the 28th. The monthly average dew point was 13.1°C. The high wind chill was 31.0°C at 17:35 on the 26th, with the low wind chill being 9.6°C at 03:00 on the 4th. The average monthly wind chill was 18.8°C. The maximum heat index was 31.9°C recorded at 16:29 on the 26th, the highest since July 2016. There were 282.76 hours of sunshine, with the sunniest day being the 2nd when 12.28 hours was recorded.

July 2018 was a very dry month with only 24.4 millimetres of rain recorded. This is well below the month average of 46.6 millimetres. On the 13th, after 28 dry days, the station recorded its first measurable rain at 11:00. There were only 9 rain days in the month, with the wettest being the 29th when 7.0 millimetres was recorded. 18.2 millimetres of the monthly total fell in the last four days of the month. The highest rain rate was 67.0 millimetres recorded at 07:39 on the 28th. The yearly rainfall total is now 319.0 millimetres, 106% of what is normally expected by the end of July.

The highest barometric pressure was 1026.7 millibars at 10:02 on the 9th. The lowest barometric pressure was 997.6 millibars at 13:53 on the 29th. The average pressure in the month was 1015.5 millibars. The highest humidity was 95% and the monthly average humidity was 71%, an all-time low. The lowest humidity was 34% at 16:15 on the 2nd.

Winds were again very light and predominently southerly (184°), which contributed to the heatwave conditions throughout most of the month.. The highest wind gust in the month was 29 mph recorded at 12:59 on the 28th. The average gust speed in the month was 4.1 mph, mean 5.4 mph. The average wind speed was 2.3 mph, mean 3.2 mph. The maximum wind speed was 15 mph at 11:12 on the 28th. The total wind run was 1700.3 miles.

The maximum high solar radiation recorded at 14:20 on the 9th was 1165 w/m². The average solar radiation for the month was 226 w/m². The highest U.V. Index was 6.5 recorded at 13:22 on the 9th.
