In the early hours of January 12th 2014, the temperature<\/a> at Bracken House dipped below 0\u00b0C, this was the first time an air frost has been recorded here since November 26th 2013.<\/p>\n

The spell of 46 days without any sub-zero temperatures is easily the longest spell recorded here in the Winter<\/a> period which runs from the beginning of December until the end of February.\u00a0The previous best period of above zero Winter temperatures was one of 26 days, between December 15th 2012 and January 9th 2013.<\/p>\n

In November 2013, meteorologically\u00a0classed as Autumn, there were five days of sub-zero temperatures, with the lowest being -2.3\u00b0C on the 19th. The temperature in the early hours of January 12th only fell to -0.7\u00b0C at 04:39. The record low in the Winter period at Bracken House is the -11.6\u00b0C recorded on December 7th 2010.<\/p>\n

With almost half of the Winter period now past, we are on course for the mildest Winter recorded here. The average temperature, as at 11:00 on January 12th, is 5.7\u00b0C. This compares to the mean Winter temperature of 3.5\u00b0C. The previous mildest Winter was the period from December 2011 until November 2012 when the average temperature was 4.7\u00b0C.<\/p>\n
