Summer 2013 can go down on record as having the best weather<\/a> since we moved into Bracken House in October 2008. The period between June 1st 2013 and August 31st 2013 was the warmest, driest and least windy summer period ever recorded here.<\/p>\n

The average temperature<\/a> in Summer 2013 was 15.9\u00b0C, 0.8\u00b0C warmer than the mean temperature for the summer months. The highest temperature recorded was 29.9\u00b0C on August 1st, the highest temperature ever recorded here. The average high temperature was 20.7\u00b0C, the first time a seasonal high has exceeded 20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

The lowest temperature recorded was 6.2\u00b0C on June 2nd, the highest summer low temperature recorded here. The average low temperature was 11.7\u00b0C, 0.6\u00b0C higher than the mean for the summer period.<\/p>\n

The average rainfall for the June to August period is 178.2 millimetres, compare this to the Summer 2013 rainfall of just 113.6 millimetres, easily the lowest ever rainfall total for a Selston<\/a> summer.<\/p>\n

Winds were much lighter than average at 3.2 mph, 0.3 mph lower than average. The average maximum wind speed<\/a> was 16.3 mph, 0.7 mph lower than average.<\/p>\n

Despite articles in some sections of the media saying that we’re in line for a run of poor Summers, Mother Nature<\/a> has reminded us that it is impossible to predict the weather, with any degree of accuracy, more than a couple of days ahead<\/p>\n
