The guard told me they are brittle and he would get it repaired &#8211; which he did.<\/p>\n<p>After a large breakfast, we boarded our coach for a trip to <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Llangollen\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Llangollen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Llangollen<\/a> Railway. This was the first standard gauge railway we had been on, apart from the main line.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 2058px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/commons.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/File:WalesC0047.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-img-inserted zemanta-img-configured\" title=\"Pontcysyllte Aqueduct; picture taken by Akke M...\" alt=\"Pontcysyllte Aqueduct; picture taken by Akke M...\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/0\/0d\/WalesC0047.jpg\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pontcysyllte Aqueduct; picture taken by Akke Monasso (Photo credit: Wikipedia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Before the railway, we stopped at the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal\" href=\"http:\/\/whc.unesco.org\/en\/list\/1303\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"unesco\">Pontcysyllte Aqueduct<\/a>, a navigable aqueduct that carries the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Llangollen Canal\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Llangollen_Canal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Llangollen Canal<\/a> over the valley of the River Dee. I walked the length of the 1,007 foot aqueduct, which was built in 1795, and is 11 feet wide and 126 feet high. Train arriving into the town station in Llangollen (Photo credit: Wikipedia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This was the railway&#8217;s open day, and we had tickets which allowed us to ride on any train we liked, all day. We were also able to go our separate ways, so I chose to spend the day in my company.<\/p>\n<p>I thoroughly enjoyed the day riding in first class compartments, and an <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"GWR Autocoach\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GWR_Autocoach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">autocoach<\/a>. We spent a total of eight and a half hours at the railway, and I took many photos and video. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Llangollen would make a great place for a short break with plenty to do in the area.
