Temperatures ranged from a high of 13.3\u00b0C\u00a0 on January 29th, to a low of 6.3\u00b0C on January 16th. The average temperature for the period was 3.2C, just 0.1C below normal. The average daily high temperature was 5.7\u00b0C, exactly the same as the all-time average, and the average daily low was 1.0\u00b0C, just 0.1\u00b0C above the all-time average.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Rain\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Rainfall<\/a> in the period was 140.8 millimetres, 16.2 millimetres higher than the average, although this can be accredited to December, which was extremely wet. Snow was recorded on 14 days producing a total of 41.5 centimetres.<\/p>\n<p>The Winter of 2012\/3 wasn\u2019t particularly windy either, although a gust of 40.3 <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Miles per hour\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Miles_per_hour\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">mph<\/a> was recorded. The average maximum <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Wind speed\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wind_speed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">wind speed<\/a> for the period was 19.0 mph, 0.4 mph stronger than average.The average wind speed for the month was 4.8 mph, 0.3 mph above average.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first year that sunshine hours have been measured at Bracken House, and the Winter total was 172.8 hours.
