June 2017 continued the run of above average temperatures and was the warmest June so far recorded here. Winds were slightly stronger than average and rainfall totals were lower than the norm.

The highest temperature in the month was 29.5°C recorded at 16:19 on the 19th, the highest temperature ever recorded in June here. This was also the highest temperature of 2017 so far and the highest since 30.1°C was recorded on July 19th 2016. The temperature exceeded 25°C on four occasions during the month, the first time this has happened since July 2014. The lowest temperature in the month was 7.5°C at 06:02 on the 4th. The average temperature in the month was 15.6°C, 1.4°C above the mean. The average daily high temperature was 19.5°C, 1.0°C above the mean, with the average daily low being 7.5°C, 1.5°C above the mean. The warmest day was the 19th with an average of 24.2°C. The coldest day was the 6th with an average temperature of 11.2°C.

The highest dew point was 21.1°C at 18:53 on the 21st, the highest ever here in June. The lowest dew point was 5.9°C at 04:53 on the 4th, also a high for June. The average dew point in the month was 12.4°C, again a June high and 1.6°C above the mean. The high wind chill was 29.5°C at 16:19 on the 19th and the high heat index was 30.8°C on the same day at 15:40. The average wind chill in the month was 15.3°C. There were 196.6 hours of sunshine in the month, with the sunniest day being the 18th when 12.46 hours of sunshine were recorded.

There were 49.0 millimetres of rainfall in the month recorded on 13 days, this was 8.1 millimetres below average. There has been 192.6 millimetres of rain so far in 2017, 74% of the average at the end of June. The wettest day was the 28th when 13.4 millimetres was recorded. The highest rain rate was 38.8 millimetres per hour, recorded at 07:15 on the 6th.

The highest barometric pressure in the month was 1025.7 millibars recorded at 11:18 on the 17th. The lowest barometric pressure was 984.7 millibars at 06:50 on the 6th. The average pressure for the month was 1010.9 millibars.

Winds in the month were slightly above average with the average wind speed being 4 mph, 0.5 mph above the mean. The average gust speed was 6 mph, 0.1 mph above the mean. The highest wind gust was 32 mph at 10:52 on the 7th, with the highest average wind speed being 16 mph at 10:41 on the 7th. The total wind run was 2933.0 miles and the predominant direction was 208°.

The maximum high solar radiation recorded at 12:46 was 1320 w/m², an all-time high for the station. The average solar radiation for the month was 177 w/m². The highest U.V. Index was 7.6 set at 12:49, the highest so far in 2017, and the highest since 7.9 was recorded on July 16th 2016.
